Of course Jem and I went to check it out because (1) registration is for free, (2) we might get a chance to get some freebies, and most specially, (3) we wanted to take Cookie out to play with her fellow dogs.
Before the day itself, we bought Cookie a new pink leash and a set of dog diapers. Just so we're ready should she relieve herself at the park hehe.
Since we don't have any access to a private vehicle, we did our usual thing of commuting. We came from somewhere in Dapitan so our first ride was a jeepney to E. Rodriguez. When we hailed the jeep we were confused why the driver was laughing at us then when we settled ourselves, we finally noticed why. The other passenger also brought her dog along! Cookie was already making friends when we were on our way!
We then transferred to another jeepney to get to EDSA. Cookie is pretty much well behaved whenever we're travelling. She loves peeking her head out of the window of the jeep so she could feel the wind on her face :)
When we finally got to EDSA, we rode a bus that would get us to Shaw Boulevard.
We noticed Cookie shaking a bit during the ride and Jem assumed that it was probably because it reminded her of her car rides which she directly associated with Vet Clinic visits.
Due to the heavy traffic, we decided to get down at Starmall and walk all the way to Shaw then straight to the park.
When we got to the Greenfield park, we registered our names and entered a raffle contest. Cookie was also provided with a large paper bowl for her food, a clear plastic bag (for cleaning after her), and the program flow.
There were numerous dogs of all sizes playing at the park. There were Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, German and Australian Shepherds, French Bulldogs, Pit Bulls, Chihuahuas, and of course, Cookie's breed, Shi Tzus!
We started going around the booths the moment we got inside. We learned that they have food and water station for your furry buddy. They also have a free checkup and food sample by Royal Canin as well as a free bubble bath by Bubble Bath should you acquire 300 peso worth of goodies from them.
They also set up small pavilions where you and your pet can rest after playing. During our stay, we found out Cookie was not the feisty dog that she think she is! She got scared by every other dog who approaches her to smell the funny diaper she was wearing. She even hid behind my legs when a beagle approached her!
Since Cookie appeared to be uncomfortable when we were staying with groups of dogs, we decided to walk to the rearmost part of the park and played with her there.
When Cookie appeared to began to relax with her new environment, we decided to walk again to look at the different booths that had been set up inside the park. We also took some pictures of the people and dogs who were enjoying the event.
The organizers also scheduled games for the dogs in the park during the entire duration of the event. And dogs enjoyed it for sure! Especially this game we watched where the objective of the game is whoever finishes the served dog food first, wins!
We definitely enjoyed our stay during this one day event and I know Cookie had a great time too! We're now planning on taking Cookie to every dog fair near Manila so that she can enjoy even at least a day outside with her kind :)
