A Day in Antipolo

From BGC early January, we decided to head to Antipolo by the later days of the same month.

Actually, I have been bugging Jem for months to visit this famous art museum in Antipolo (none other than, Pinto Art Museum) and he finally gave in when he found out that even though it's quite far, getting there is as easy as going to Makati.

Yep, that's the building you mostly see on every IG post HAHA

As expected, there were quite a number of people who were visiting the place when we got there. There was an affordable entrance fee before entering and what's more is that students gets a discount.

The museum itself is owned by neurologist Dr. Joven Cuanang and has been open to the public in 2010. The art museum is divided into different areas with buildings housing different types of art; from ancient wooden sculptures and artistic woven fabrics made by our ancestors to modern paintings and metal sculptures.

Going here was definitely worth the long trip. I suggest you go here early in the morning since it can get pretty hot if you arrive by late afternoon. No worries though, they have these 2 cafes inside (though the food is a bit pricey) where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular gardens the place has to offer.

We didn't eat inside though since we're too frugal haha. If you're like us then I suggest you eat a heavy meal before going here and right after you can head to Robinsons Place Antipolo to grab lunch which is just a short ride from the museum.

For every visitors' comfort, there are benches and even mattresses all around the grounds were you can relax yourselves.

Told you there are mattresses :))

We completed the tour for more than 2 hours since I insisted on reading the description of the pieces that intrigued me and also because we wanted to make the visit worthwhile.

You might notice that there are a number of art pieces depicting religious icons as you tour the area, but there are also various artworks that tackles topics such as science, the third sex, and even that of the destructiveness of society. However, the artworks are not limited to these categories only.

They also have this room that is in itself an artwork; the Bamboo Room. I wasn't able to take a picture of this room since it was pretty dark inside but I promise you, by stepping inside this room, it would feel like you're being transported to a zen forest.

By the way, here are some of the artworks that had captured my attention, ranked from 5th to 1st.

If you were impressed by these artworks like me, then I'm sure you'll get to enjoy roaming around the vast area of Pinto Art Museum since there are still plenty of artworks at display which are as captivating as the ones above.

So there, one more scratch from the list :)

  • Pinto Art Museum (Antipolo)

If you're planning on going to Pinto Art Museum and you'll be coming from Quezon City, Cubao area, you can follow this guide:
  • Head to Farmers Mall and look for the FX Terminal that is located between the mall and market proper
  • Ride one that is bound to Antipolo and ask to be let down at Ynares
  • Ride a tricycle and ask to be dropped off at Pinto Art Museum
Yep, it's that easy!
