Let's be cultured: Phantom of the Opera at Solaire

Remember when I said I'll properly take care of my blog this time around? WELL SHIT HAPPENS HAHA but I'm back (yet again!) trying to catch up with the drafts piled up on my profile!

I'll try to keep this one short cause I want to write more about my other adventures last 2019 hehe. But I wanted to include this one cause this has been literally a check from my life's bucket list!

Taken near the lounge area of The Theatre at Solaire Resorts & Casino

So last 2019, The Theater at Solaire Resorts & Casino announced that they will be showing The Phantom of the Opera. Since I have been dreaming of watching this one live ever since I became aware of the beauty of theater, I immediately bought tickets for their March 27 show. Like any tickets which can be bought through Ticketworld, I purchased mine at National Bookstore hoping to get a student discount ALAS this is one of the shows where no discount is given (Note: check Ticketworld first if the show you're planning to watch accepts discounts cause sometimes they offer group packages too!).

Anyway, after buying the ticket, all I needed to do was wait for the actual day HAHA I bought the ticket early February cause I felt like I wouldn't be able to get one if I waited any longer.

The ticket I bought at National Bookstore (I was hiding at one of the shelves cause I was too shy that I was taking a picture of it HAHA)

The show was scheduled to start at 8PM (SHARP! Theater waits for no one!) so I went out to get ready at around 1PM. I went to T&J Salon at Cyberpark 1 Cubao to get my hair done (I wanted to look cute hihi) then went back home to change.

I was too shy to ask somebody to take photos of me so I just took these selfies inside the comfort room HAHA

Since Solaire is pretty far from our place, I opted to leave at 5PM by hailing a taxi cause Grab was too expensive. HOWEVER! Much to my dismay, I still got stuck in traffic and arrived at the theater at around 8:15PM. I hurried to the entrance and the usher instructed me to wait for the 'right' moment to enter cause it was already dark inside. I actually thought I wouldn't be able to watch the first act but thankfully, he signaled me to follow him after a 5 minute wait when the scene was a bit calm (Note: PLEASE don't imitate me huhu arrive at the theater at least 30 minutes early!)

This was the view from my seat :) I chose the balcony cause I felt like I wouldn't be able to enjoy it that much if I was seated at the orchestra hehe

I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE SHOW! Of course taking videos or photos is strictly prohibited so I was only able to capture the moment the cast went out for their final bows (and I only brought my shitty phone with me so the image is very blurry).

Taken using my shitty phone showing the amazing cast! See everyone of us are standing cause they were really so, so great!!!

I don't quite remember what time the show ended but it was still pretty early since the Grab surge was pretty high. I opted to wait it out and look around the mall part of Solaire instead. As I was milling around, I received a message from Solaire offering bottomless wine and nachos at one of the restaurants, and since I haven't had anything to eat and I really don't want to eat at a McDonald's wearing what I'm wearing, I decided to go there instead.

Here's their flyer but this was last year so I don't know if it's still the same huhu I'M SO SORRY FOR POSTING SO LATE :((

Since I was alone, I decided to sit at the bar and ordered a glass of white wine. The bartender was pretty kind and allowed me to sit there in peace as I browsed through my phone. I think I was probably at my 4th glass of wine and 2nd refill of nachos when he jokingly said that I already finished a bottle on my own! (Note: drink moderately, kids!)

My not so drunk selfie!!!

At around 2AM, I decided to finally book a grab to head back home. Sadly the grab driver I booked was a bit creepy and since I was already a bit tipsy, I decided to have one of my friends call me and talk to me for the rest of my ride home (Note: TAKE CARE ALWAYS :( there will always be people who'll take advantage of you).

Oh well, that's that for my Theater experience last 2019! Hoping to catch Matilda and Star Wars: A New Hope concert this 2020! See you around!
