Walking the Dog: A Trip to the Past II

I know, I know, I've been quite the inactive blogger that I am for the past weeks. But I'm glad to inform you guys, that yes, I am still alive and kicking!

As the title of this post says, I'll be touring you once again to Intramuros BUT with an additional member! So without further ado, here's Cookie the amazing dog! hehe

Since we didn't really get to complete our tour in Intramuros when we first went, Jem and I decided to return with their adorable family dog, Cookie. The funny thing is, we forgot to check out the calendar before heading out. Apparently our tour coincided with the parade for the Black Nazarene!

So we kinda walked along Taft Avenue from Rizal Avenue(?) until we reached Quiapo then Intramuros. Fun right? NOT! It was sooooo tiring and the heat! Ugh, unimaginable! Good thing Cookie was with us to entertain ourselves with her antics. We carried her all throughout the walk (me during the first half then Jem until we reached our destination) since we couldn't risk her walking alongside with us because the sidewalks were just too crowded. Add to the fact that there were people who were actually asking us to just give her to them! THE NERVE!

Anyway, we reached Intramuros at 2 PM and we finally got to rest our tired arms since we were now confident that Cookie will not be dognapped. We proceeded to  Baluarte de San Gabriel since it was the nearest place with a wide grassy area.

SOOOO PRECIOUS!

Although she's not formally trained, Cookie makes sure that she always sees us when we're walking so we let her enjoy herself by removing her leash :)

We stayed there for quite a long time since Cookie was really enjoying playing fetch with her battered pink ball. Eventually though, we noticed that it was just Jem and I playing fetch since she was just lying on the grass :))

"Yeah, that's right! Go and fetch that ball you threw!"

After realizing this, we decided to head out and continue our tour of Intramuros. We walked along Anda Street before turning to Gen. Luna St. to get to Casa Manila.

Before we reached Casa Manila though, we reached this small quaint park situated at the back of Manila Cathedral. There were a lot of people just hanging about so we didn't stay for too long. At the center of the park, a memorial was built for the victims of war that remains to be nameless up to now.

Continuing our walk to Casa Manila, we were greeted by quite a number of kalesa that were touring its passengers inside Intramuros. Cookie stared at the horses at first because it was her first time seeing animals bigger than her kind hehe.

We finally reached Casa Manila when we turned to Real St. You wouldn't miss this one because the road suddenly turns to cobblestones around this area. However since we brought Cookie along with us, we didn't get to check out the inside of the museum (another stop we can return to once we go back to Intramuros!).

After some photo ops along its wonderful road, we decided to walk along Real St. until we reached the other end of Intramuros.

We eventually reached Baluarte de San Eugenio and Reducto de San Pedro and rested there for a while until the sun completely set.

Since most of the attractions closes early and it was already quite dark, we decided to end our second tour of Intramuros by then. We then again walked along Anda St. until we reached the opposite end of the walled city. After that, we walked until we reached the Manila Metropolitan Theater to ride a jeepney to take our cute companion home.

We still have some places to visit inside Intramuros, so you can expect to see more post about this place, 'till then! :D
